Ticket to Ryde is a fascinating piece by Colin Bishop on the new Wightlink Isle of Wight ferries which includes a full page diagram and plan of these interesting new craft.
The complimentary PLAN presented by James Pottinger is for Trygve Braarud, a research vessel operated by the University of Oslo which makes up into a nice sized practical working model.
Our show reporters have also been busy with comprehensive articles and pictures from the Fleet Air Arm Museum and Faszination Modellbau at Karlsruhe in Germany.
Hints and Tips has a useful offering from Brian King entitled 'Doin' it right' and Stewart Rae has up to date news of the offshore model power boating scene, plus where we would we all be without Dave Wooley and his Range Finder Warship Scale column. Warships are one of the most popular aspects of scale model boating, and Dave has unrivalled access to the military for his factual and informative background pieces to help us with our hobby. No other model boating magazine has articles on warships of the depth and interest as presented by Dave.
The Gallery presented by Fraser Gray is of some Tall Ships at Falmouth. Many modellers have a longing desire to build, if only once in their lifetime, a model of a square rigger. Perhaps these pictures will provide inspiration? So, yet another issue packed with information, advice, including a FREE PLAN and comment that is of value and interest to all those who pursue this hobby of ours of model boating in all its various guises.
Future magazine news
The September issue will be on sale on the 6th August 2010 and UK subscribers should receive their copy approximately a week before that date. In that issue, the main feature articles will be Part Two of the Model Slipway Assurance tug kit review, a rebuild of a wooden PT Boat, a 'Dodman' steam engine and a very useful piece on building the ACTion P94 dual electronic speed controller and mixer unit. Not too far away now is the regular Model Boats Winter Special that is on sale in November. Not giving too much away, but scratch building models, the research involved and the general skills required will all feature heavily.
Many Thanks
Paul Freshney

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.
In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.
The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!
I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
