Not really about our type of model boats although there are some waterline ship models but the catalogue is certainly worth a browse if only for nostalgic reasons. I don't think the guide prices mean much though.

Hi All,

This month's free book with the mag is terrific reference for the die cast ship collectors, from Traplet who must have printed an awful lot back in the day ??

Yes, it didn't come with the subscription copy.

Thanks very much for the offer but if it is basically a rerun of Kevin's MMI articles then I have already seen most of them and he tended to emphasise the warships. If it is something more than that then I would be interested. and happily refund postage.

Incidentally, I have been helping Paul Freshney's family to sort out a disposal plan for his models and workshop contents. He liked to go on cruises and afterwards bought 1:1250 scale models of three of the Cunard fleet. His family had assumed that these were just mass produced souvenirs and were planning to give them to his grandson as toys. In fact they are from the Scherbak Collector series and cost around £200 each back in 2012 when he bought them and now retail for around $450US!

Cor. A bit expensive for just toys! This is why you need someone who knows about these things, before just giving stuff away.

Just this morning I may have given away £20,000,000 worth of Ming vases (masquerading as plant pots) to the recycling second hand stall.....

Make your own contribution to the Website

We welcome well written contributions from Website members on almost any aspect of Model Boating with a particular emphasis on practical hints, tips, experience and builds.

In order to maintain a consistent standard and format, all suggestions should first be sent to me by Personal Message for approval in principle. Only a very limited amount of time is available for editing contributions into a suitable format for placing on the website so it is important that the material is well presented, lucid and free from obvious spelling errors. I think it goes without saying that contributions should be illustrated by appropriate photos. I shall be happy to give advice on this.

The Member Contribution area offers space for short informative mini articles which would not normally find a place in Model Boats magazine. It is an opportunity for Website Members to freely share their  expertise and experience but I am afraid that virtue is its own reward as there is no budget to offer more material recompense!

I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
